Reflectance from circular polarised light
The illustration below shows the liquid crystal "cellulose nanocrystal" here shortened as CNC and its response to circularly polarized light. White light was used in both, left circular polarization (LCP) and right circular polarisation (RCP) as indicated with the arrows in (b) and (c) Depending on the handedness of the circular light, the reflectece differed not only in intensity, but also in the spectral distribution. Particularly of interest is that the right polarized light (c) seems to supress the reflectivity the most whereas it reflects the most in the LCP.
